Keep a log and files of program related activities, such as:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sweeping and cleaning sessions<\/li>\n\n<li>Inspections and evaluations<\/li>\n\n<li>Training sessions<\/li>\n\n<li>Foreign Object Debris incidents<\/li>\n\n<li>Foreign Object Damage incidents<\/li>\n\n<li>Meetings<\/li>\n\n<li>Memos and emails<\/li>\n\n<li>Corrective actions<\/li><\/ul><p>Assign a senior manager to own responsibility for the program and an administrative employee to maintain document files.<\/p><p>If an outside organization is scheduled to inspect your facility, prepare for it with a \u201cmock audit.\u201d This includes conducting your own internal audit in advance, identifying and correcting any problems before the outside folks have a chance to find them.<\/p><p><strong>Numerous resources exist<\/strong>&nbsp;that can help orient you to the process. For instance:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iata.org\/whatwedo\/safety\/audit\/isago\/Pages\/index.aspx\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International Air Transport Association<\/a>&nbsp;has several audit manuals focused on airline ground operations.<\/li>\n\n<li>For aerospace manufacturers, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sae.org\/iaqg\/projects\/9100_auditor_guidance_material.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International Aerospace Quality Group\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;<em>911 Auditor Guidance Material<\/em>&nbsp;lists hundreds of suggested questions related to AS 9100 standards.<\/li>\n\n<li>The&nbsp;Association of Internal Airport Auditors&nbsp;offers members the opportunity to share knowledge, learn skills, promote airport efficiency, and attend an annual conference.<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><p>The FAA recommends that internal audits be conducted by your facility\u2019s regular employees. This can be part of their regular duties and be on a regular schedule. Of course, if you suspect that staff has a poor safety culture, you may want to at least temporarily outsource your FOD program audit to a contractor.<\/p>\n\n<p>In either case, the results will prove invaluable to your continuous improvement efforts.
